For organisers
Listing guidelines
EventHome is a diary of public events. Every listing is read by a person before it goes live. These guidelines explain what we look for.
We list
- Events in the UK, or online, that members of the public can attend — free or paid.
- Events with a fixed date (or a run of dates) and a clear place, or a clear way to join online.
- Everything from village fêtes, car boot sales, talks and workshops to gigs, festivals and sporting events.
We don’t list
- Private parties, members-only events or anything people can’t actually go to.
- Adverts for products or services dressed up as events, “opportunity” meetings or anything that looks like a scam.
- Events that are illegal, unsafe, discriminatory or that promote hatred.
- Listings that copy someone else’s event without their permission, or use pictures you don’t have the right to use.
- Duplicate listings of the same event.
Writing a good listing
- Say clearly what happens, who it’s for and anything people need to know before they go (age limits, accessibility, what to bring).
- Give the price as you would say it on a poster. If it’s free, tick the “free” box so people can find it.
- Use a real photo rather than a poster full of text, and describe it for people using screen readers.
- Link to the official page for tickets or information.
Moderation
We may correct obvious typos, shorten long descriptions or change the category. If we can’t publish a listing we’ll email the organiser with the reason. Any change made with the private edit link goes back for checking before it appears again.
Cancellations
If your event is called off, use your edit link to mark it as cancelled. It stays in the diary with a clear notice, so nobody makes a wasted journey.
