About this event

The 2026 Blackpool Illuminations season began on Friday 4 September and runs until Sunday 3 January 2027, along the full traditional route of the Promenade from Starr Gate to Red Bank Road.

The display includes six miles of traditional festoons, tableaux and interactive features. Visit Blackpool calls it “the greatest free light show on Earth”.

Lighting-up times change through the season (on 3 October 2026, for example, the lights were listed as on from 7.15pm until midnight) — check the official switch-on times before you go.
